Today's aesthetic: people who are like "this anime could have been good if it weren't for one specific detail that totally ruins it", and then that one specific detail is, like, the thematic foundation of the show's core premise.

two of my favorite (non-anime) samples of this phenomenon from twitter

kinda reminds me of how the weird Batman fanboys either 1.) don’t want Robin to exist at all (which doesnt make sense to me bc Robin has been around literally as long as Batman) or 2.) day only Dick Jason and Damian need to exist as robins they’re really weird about it

my dad took some ancestry tests and eventually found out who his father was (and that he has 5+ siblings who are also finding all of this out) and honestly it's been pretty bizarre and emotional so far, naturally

but one of the biggest changes for me is no longer having to give the whole spiel of "oh i know i'm racially ambiguos but hey there's a whole story behind it because this that and here's my father's backstory"

like no i... i just have a grandpa from Nigeria now

...that's way less mysterious >:(

edit: my brother has made a tiktok on the whole situation

What I love about this site is the fact it's the closest I've gotten to pre-2000 internet in years. No one knows anyone's real name, photos are entirely optional, and we're pretty sure at least one of our mutuals is 100% lying about everything. There's a reason it's one of the only social media sites I keep coming back to. It somehow manages to be just as horrible, enjoyable, and chaotic as 1990s chat rooms used to be.

The internet is a gentrified neighbourhood and we’re a stubborn old lady refusing to sell her run-down home to the developers.

listening to fleetwood mac is like. i don’t know this song but let’s give it a shot. oh wait i do know this song. i’ve heard it a million times and always liked it, i just didn’t know the name. on some level i kind of assumed that song was just an ambient part of the world the way the sound of the wind or birdsong in the trees was but apparently it’s by fleetwood mac. neat.
